Children of Men
I remember (gore effects master) Tom Savini saying that when he saw the Exorcist, that he believed this film entirely, and had absolutely no thoughts towards “how did they do that”. Children of Men is the sf equivalent.The Fountain
No one fucking saw this movie. It’s Solyaris for my generation. It is a stunning acheivement for Darren Aronofsky, who is just going to keep on making great, personal, technically brilliant movies until he can’t anymore. [. . .] This is going to be a massive touchstone in ten years, right now it’s a movie that very few people saw and even fewer understood.
He also makes me wish I’d seen Casino Royale. Go read.
