John Waters: Rod Serling Of The New Century?

March 16, 2007

Via the daily newsletter:

John Waters stars as the “Groom Reaper”(!!) in a CourtTV series called ’til Death Do Us Part.

Go to the CourtTV primetime homepage and also to the series site to see the sample vids. Waters is creepy and just flirting with the edge of camp. It’s a wonderful performance. This is going to be a fun series to watch.

Deleted YouTube Rise From The Dead?

Delutube offers users a way to view deleted YouTube videos

Even casual YouTube users have no doubt come across video clips that the company has taken down for one reason or another, but a new service gives viewers at least a chance to see the offending content. Delutube, as its name implies, can serve up some video clips even after YouTube has purged them.

I attempted a test to retrieve some deleted Gerry Anderson vids. But the site is down due to The Digg Effect.

Welcome to SFXB, The Star Fleet/X-Bomber Homepage

This never aired in the U.S. (at least not where I could see it, if it did air at all). I’ve seen some episodes via the miracle of P2P. Gerry Anderson should not have worried. I thought even Terrahawks was better.

Calling Out To The World Wide Web: Send Me Interster!

March 16, 2007

Interster (Afrikaans, Inter-star) was a weekly science-fiction puppet television show made for children and shown in South Africa from the late 1970s. South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) children’s programming was quite innovative during the late 1970s to early 1980s — the impossiblity of purchasing Thunderbirds forced the SABC to produce Interster, but also the technical challenge offered the opportunity to truly flex the SABC’s creative muscles.

An intensive Nethunt by me several months ago, when I first got wind that this existed came up with zilch. Then suddenly the above Wikipedia entry appeared; now those two other Wikipedia items have appeared too.

There isn’t any fan website. There are no YouTube/Google or other vids. There are no photos.

Even P2P comes up dry!

This is the Internet, goddammit! There must be someone in the Vast Out There who knows something about this. Who has pictures. Who knows if it’s on DVD. If it’s ever been shown outside of South Africa.
