This Blog 101

Update: This post will be revised as needed to clarify or amplify points. I’ve decided this will be the “tutorial” for this blog and will refer to it in future posts from time to time.

It’s OK to email me:

1) To point out a link that has gone bad (especially YouTube!)

2) To point out something related to a post that I might have missed

3) To point out a correction that might need to be made

4) To ask a question

Other than that, in general, fuck off. Especially if you intend to whiiiiine about words used here. (No, I’m not putting my email address in this post. If you can’t find it in this blog, along with the instructions as to how to properly go about it, you don’t qualify for emailing me.)

This is not a tech blog! How many times must I state this?

When you see text

that looks like this

it means it’s a quote from a link that the post is highlighting. (Yes, can you frikkin believe it?, some guy didn’t know what quoting was!)

Look at the posting date! Many people pop in here as a result of a search query. For these people it’s always Today. Uh, no. This blog — God help me! — has been going for eight months now. Check the day to see how old the post is.

I don’t do reviews! When I say something is a Fondle, that’s what it is. For the clueless: a Fondle is what you are able to do with a demo model in a store or at a trade show. A review is a when someone — like Nokia! — gives you hardware or software and lots of time to examine it in depth. Fuck reviewing. I have better things to do with my time. And when I do a post about a book or movie, it’s not a review, dammit. It’s a write-up. There are things I will see or read that I won’t write about. This is not necessarily a reflection of their quality. I just don’t have time for everything.

There are Categories for posts. See the sidebar at right. Use them to find related material. There’s a lot of cross-referencing, though.

You can also use the Search box. If you are searching for an exact phrase, place it in quote marks — “Captain Scarlet” as an example.

At the end of each month, I post the Contents for that month. This is a straight chronological listing of all posts. There’s a Category for Contents. Click on it and you’ll get all the posts that are just each month’s list of posts.
